WEIGHT-LOSS

INDICATIONS

Serotonin regulates among other things the hormone CCK (Cholecystokinin), which controls your appetite. CCK not only stimulates the bile and enzymes of the pancreas, it also produces neuropeptides in the brain (chem. messengers), which affect the sensation of hunger. Taking 5-HTP before every meal boosts the natural serotonin and cholecystokinin of the body, which curbs appetite, particularly cravings for sweets and carbohydrates, and can lead to dramatic weight loss without starving yourself and without traditional appetite suppressants. 5-HTP is a safe alternative to most diets and appetite suppressants.

DOSAGE

Appetite suppressant: 300 to 600 mg daily, 100 – 200 mg of total dosage 30 minutes before each major meal.

COMPOSITION

One tablet contains 100 mg hydroxy-tryptophane extract, derived from the Griffonia Simplicifolia bean with a hypo-allergenic rice starch base, 50 mg of vitamin C and 10 mg of vitamin B6.

ADVERSE EFFECTS & CONTRAINDICATIONS

5-HTP should not be taken during pregnancy or while nursing. SSRI's, MAO's or other forms of anti-depressants should first be stopped or significantly reduced under a doctor’s supervision to reduce the risk of a serotonin overdose. Even herbal SSRI’s, such as St. John’s Wort, or MAO's such as Gingko Biloba can cause an overdose of serotonin and 5-HTP should only be added slowly and under the direct supervision of a physician.

In combination with liver disease and coherent enzyme deficiency, 5-HTP might have undesirably strong effects.

Taking 5-HTP at the same time as an "L-Dopa treatment" may lead to unwanted nausea. L-Dopa should be discontinued at least one week prior to a 5-HTP treatment!

NOTES

• 5-HTP should at first be taken in smaller doses of only 1/2 tablet with a meal once or twice a day. The dosage can be slightly increased after a few days.
• Take at least with a snack high in carbohydrates or plenty of liquids, i.e. orange juice.
• 5-HTP efficacy is reduced if a deficiency of Vitamin B3, Vitamin C, B6, and magnesium is present.
• If you experience nausea after taking 5-HTP, drinking a mix of one teaspoon ginger in one pint of lukewarm water 10 minutes before the next dose can prevent this.

Dosage and simultaneous use of other medications, even from plant extracts, should be discussed with a physician.
